TE question 3

I think that Vygotsky's theory on the Zone of Proximal Development is a very important theory that is related to teaching because it allows the teacher to realize what is and isn't feasible for a student to learn. Once the ZPD has been assessed, the teacher can form a realistic plan of information to teach. I will use this in my classroom by finding out what the students already know, (I want to be a German teacher, so I need to know how much German they have already learned) and then I will set out to teach what I think the students are capable of learning. I also think the IP theory is very important to teaching, especially a language. I will use the rehearsal part of this theory on a regular basis in my classroom. This way, the students will learn vocabulary until it is second nature to them.

TE question 2

How to be successful in TE150: First of all, the reading is very important. Doing it before class helps give you an understanding of what will be discussed in class. Also, you should look over your slides and notes on a consistent basis. This will allow you to better internalize the information you have learned, and it will make studying for the exams much easier. However, the best way to be successful in TE150, is to PARTICIPATE IN THE DISCUSSIONS!! This makes the time you spend in class fly by, and you will learn about the material without even trying. These are just some of the ways to be successful in this course.

TE question one

I think that understanding that your students aren't all the same is a very important take-away message from the course. What I mean by this is teachers need to realize that some students require more work than others. Just because a certain student might be more difficult to work with, they deserve your best effort and care. Additionally, teachers should make sure they can relate to the students they're teaching. They need to be able to do this because it makes it much easier for the students to respond positively to what you are teaching. These to me are two of the most important take-away messages that I take away from the course.
